Q: If you could try a different job for a day, what would you choose?

A: Something in the medical field. I love helping people and there is nothing better than helping someone maintain their health.

Q: What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

A: Challenge the status quo. Always ask why and what if. “Why do we do what we do and what if we did it differently”. Our industry is based on a long history of nursing home experience that is less applicable today.

Q: What is your mantra?

A: “Genius is merely patience.”

Q: How do you get yourself out of a slump?

A: Look for small victories and keep reminding yourself that sometimes you have to lose a battle to win the war.

Q: What companies or leaders do you admire?

A: I love companies and leaders that have the courage to fail.

Q: What has been the biggest shift you’ve noticed in your industry in the last decade?

A: It is shifting quickly from a health care model to a consumer model. Expectations are increasing daily and consumer options are expanding rapidly.

Q: Who has been most instrumental in your career?

A: Randy Pearce. Randy gave me the opportunity to grow into the leader I am today. He trusted me to do the right thing.

Q: What is your go-to celebration meal, drink or tradition?

A: I am not much into celebrations, but when I do a great steak is my go-to.
