Scouts helps companies scale.
Early in his career at a small manufacturing company, Brian had the opportunity to work in an “operating CFO” role. He describes it as a co-general manager, making strategic and tactical decisions in all of the operating functions of the business. Brian thrived in that role and knew one day, he could do it on a much larger stage.
Finance and technology on a global scale.
Later, he landed a traditional VP Finance/Controller position in a $5 billion technology company, learning everything he could about software as a service (SaaS) as a business model and finance on a huge scale.
Years later, this experience proved to be extremely valuable in his current role of CFO with a privately held technology company with a SaaS business model. “A great company that needed new people comfortable taking the company to a much bigger place.” And Brian did just that. He was instrumental in guiding them through dramatic growth. “As an operating CFO, I spend 90 percent of my time outside of finance. Being part of all of the key decisions—sales, marketing, operations, and finance—that are driving the business forward. Working with the executive team and the entire organization to triple the value of the company over the past several years. And we are now uniquely positioned for even greater growth.”
Scouts Talent helped Brian build a team quickly.
Extreme growth meant he needed to build teams quickly. He met Mark from Scouts Talent in 2009 where he was one of several placement executives helping Brian grow a finance department from 50 to 200 strong. “Mark delivered. And he delivered the right talent. That moment was a key proof point for me. I knew I could trust Mark with my finance resource needs.”
An exclusive partnership.
In 2016 when he needed to grow his department again, Brian knew he only needed to call one firm. “I’m not going to talk to anyone else. I know I can trust Mark and the team at Scouts Talent to go beyond just finding the right finance and accounting skills. They know the people here and their management styles, so Scouts chooses people who can fit into our unique environment. They can do this because Scouts Talent is proactive and takes the time to really understand our business model and culture. They haven’t missed in over five years. We joke about this…but Scouts Talent is actually so good at finding ideal candidates, we often convert them into full-time employees—and I am sure they hate to lose their best people!”
